Rag Rugging Demonstrations

Every fourth Wednesday, 2.00pm

Discover this traditional Cumbrian craft and see a demonstration of rag rugs being made.

These frugal and eco-friendly rugs recycle scraps of old fabric into a beautiful new objects. They are known as rag 'hooky', or 'proddy' rugs and have been used in Lake District  houses for centuries. Join our demonstrator to see a rag rug being made and to discuss the craft.

Demonstrations will take place on 9 January, 6 February, 3 March, 1 May, 29 May, 13 June, 26 June, 21 August, 18 September, 16 October, 13 November and 11 December 2019.
