A view of a group of people playing ice hockey on a frozen Rydal Water in 1947. In this image Stuart Davidson, aged 17, second from left in foreground. He is wearing a Home Guard jacket borrowed from his mother's work colleague, Bill Sagar. His improvised hockey stick was a piece of wood that he had picked up. Peter (Pum) Robinson is the first person on the left and his father was headmaster at Staveley School.
