Museum of Lakeland Life & Industry is FREE for children up to the age of 16.
There are fun daily activities for families at the museum, including new trails and learning spaces, as well a lively programme of events for all the family.
We have a children’s menu and baby changing facilities in The Bakestone café.
1. The Museum of Lakeland Life & Industry Trail
Explore the museum with the trail and look out for cartoon illustrations of The Great Picture cat.
2. Children’s Activity Trail
Pick up an activity trail sheet on arrival. Costs £1.
3. The Curator’s Office
An interactive learning space for children to enjoy curator inspired activities, including Museum Balderdash and Museum Timeline.
4. Exhibition Activities
We often have interactive activities for families inspired by the current exhibition, in addition to the daily activities. See Temporary Displays to find out what’s on.
5. Abbot Hall Park.
The museum is just a stone throw from the leafy Abbot Hall Park where kids can let off steam in the play area and seating is available for picnics.
6. Sheep Rucksacks filled with activities.
There are also plenty of things to see and do at Abbot Hall Art Gallery, just across the courtyard. Entrance for under 16's and students is also FREE.
